Biography

Ndubisi Ifeanyi Nwokoma is a Professor of Financial Economics of the Department of Economics of the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He was Head of the Department between July 2012 and July 2016. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Analysis and Research, CEPAR of the University as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. He is also the current Editor of the Nigerian Journal of Economic and Social Studies, NJESS, the flagship Journal of the Nigerian Economic Society.

He hold a PhD Economics degree of the University of Ibadan where he was a University Scholar. He specialized in macro econometric modeling and policy analysis and participated actively in the construction and maintenance of econometric models for the Federal Government of Nigeria under the auspices of the Center for Econometric and Allied Research CEAR.

Until recently, on a leave of absence from the University, he worked at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as Chief of Financing, Industry and Investment in the Economic Development and NEPAD Division between 2010 and 2012. While at UNECA, he undertook economic missions, on various UN assignments, to different African countries, namely, Djibouti, South Africa, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritius and Nigeria.  He also participated at the OECD High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, in Busan, South Korea as well as at the UN General Assembly in New York, USA, on Africa’s presentation on financing for development. His sabbatical leave was served at The Nigerian Stock Exchange, Lagos as the Special Assistant to the Director General / Chief Executive Officer between 2008 and 2009. He had also worked in the Banking sector between 1988 and 1994 – in a commercial and merchant bank at different times. He is currently the representative of the University of Lagos on the Board of Directors of the Financial Institutions Training Centre, FITC. He is well published and belongs to many professional associations including the American Economic Association, African Finance and Economics Association, African Econometrics Society, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria and Life member as well as member of Council of the Nigerian Economic Society.
